From Solkan with new BOFF ambassador
In August Kajak klub Soške elektrarne organised SOČA FEST ’13 and Bovec Outdoor Film Festival was also there, this year we were there already for the 3rd year in the row. We’ve seen a short film by Andrej Bijuklič about kayaking in Chile and Argentina.
The climax of the evening were two films that already impressed the audience in Bovec, a mountain-bike film Strength in Numbers and an expedition kayak film Congo. You can read more about the films in the last news (see links). Both films will also be on display at Soča Outdoor Festival that will take a place in Tolmin in September.

For a while the organisers of BOFF were thinking about having representatives or ambassadors of the festival, but we didn’t know how to start and who to invite. Soča Festival was the right place and time and also the first name came up. A local guy from Solkan Andrej Bijuklič is not only an excellent kayaker, we also know him as a climber and a mountain biker, a man with a smiling face, always willing to help. His passion is also film, from his production of films we would like to mention just these: Red Lines 2008, New Zealand 2011 and Kajak trip: Chile – Argentina 2013.
He gladly accepted the new role we offered him and I hope that we will help each other to achieve some common goals. A short while ago Andrej and his friends established EKS (Expedition Kajak of Slovenia) … “Expedition kayaking can be paradoxically defined as an individualist sport that is based on team work. When you descend a big rapid everything depends on you. You feel you’re the only one in the world; you can only rely on your experience. But if anything goes wrong you can also rely on the knowledge and abilities of your team…” For his whole life Andrej has been living near the kayak slalom track in Solkan. He started with slalom in his early youth, but soon he realised he wants more than just paddling in artificial slopes and train hard for different competitions. In his early 20s he became one of the most respected extreme kayakers in Slovenia, all based on his experience, knowledge and professionalism. He is known for his “out-of-the-box” way of thinking. He is a pioneer in video-kayaking in Slovenia: with his film Red Line he won the audience award at the first BOFF festival.
So, Andrej Bijuklič is the first ambassador of Bovec Outdoor Film Festival. We still have some names on stock, we will introduce them to you soon. If you think you can become our ambassador you are welcome to send us your presentation, videos and photos.
