“On The Edge” is a documentary about 33 year old Eskil Rønningsbakken from Norway – the world’s most daring extreme balancing artist, praised for his various stunts around the globe. It is the story of a man who literally lives life on the edge, as he performs death defying acts of balancing on formidable mountain tops and hovering over canyons – all without using harnesses or safety nets. We follow Eskil through spectacular landscapes and beautiful nature as he performs on some of Norway’s most famous mountain locations, high above the fjords. He bears all about the dangers, the art and being on a life long quest to push his own boundaries. Filmmakers Sohail Kamali and Aleksander Dario Nilsen go on a journey that shows us where Eskil’s adventurous career began, and through an in-depth interview we get a unique look into his turbulent life.

Aleksander Dario Nilsen – Biography\nProducer / Director\nDario was born 1980 in Colombia and adopted to Hamar in Norway.\nFounded in 1997 the film and TV-production company Filthy Frames.\nThe same year he made two short films that was screened at national\ntelevision (NRK2). He also produced and directed serval TV program´s\nfor the local TV station.\nIn 2004, he completed studies in film production at Westerdals Film &\nTV in Oslo.\nIn 2005 the film “Tilbake til begynnelsen” directed him was nominated\nfor the “Golden Frame” in the category best documentary. The film had\nscreening at national TV (TV2) the same year. The film calmed also\nhonorable mention at The Norwegian Documentary Film Festival and\nbecame the winner in Dokma Internatinal Film Festival.\nHis most recent project, the documentary film “On the Edge” (2013)\nwhich he co-wrote and directed premiered Easter weekend 2013 on\nnational television in Norway (TV2).\nCurrently he is working on documentaries, commercial, corporate films\nand event films at Filthy Frames.\n\nSohail Kamali – biography\nBorn: 1978 – Cinematographer / Director\nSohail was born on November 28, 1978, in Baerum, Norway. In 2004, he completed\nstudies in film production at Westerdals Film & TV in Oslo. He proceeded to cofound\nthe video production company Mirror Pictures in 2005, and worked in Oslo for\nthree years before moving to England to continue his formal education in cinema.\nSohail graduated from The London Film School with an MA in filmmaking in 2011,\nspecializing in cinematography. He has shot a series of short films and done\ncommercial and music video work during his stay in the UK.\nHis most recent project, the documentary film “On the Edge” (2013) which he shot,\nco-wrote and directed, tells the life story of the world’s most daring extreme balancing\nartist Eskil Rønningsbakken. The film premiered Easter weekend 2013 on national\ntelevision in Norway.\nCurrently working on fiction film projects in Oslo, Sohail is being mentored by a\nLondon based professional cinematographer.
