BOFF Awards Climbing History and Skiing Awareness
After three nights of screenings in Bovec the jury announces winners: Valley Uprising and Meditation.
Bovec, December 30 – This year’s 8th edition of Bovec Outdoor Film Festival (BOFF) finished last night with announcement of the winners. The best film in “sport long” category according to the jury is the climbing documentary Valley Uprising while Meditation took the honours in “sport short” category.
Out of 28 films screened across three festival nights 9 films were competing for the prize in the category of short sports films and 14 in the long sports films category. The Nature category with only two films did not have a competitive status this time. The jury consisted of Maria Sakvarelidze (Rus) and local filmmakers Tomaž Praunseis and Miha Brišar.
Valley Uprising (USA, 2014), signed by Nick Rosen, Peter Mortimer and Josh Lowell and produced by Senderfilms/Reelrock/The North Face, is a 96-minute documentary on history of climbing in Yosemite Valley, California. It is entertaining and educative. “We have reached the decision unanimously. This film is attractive in all the aspects,” is how the jury sums it up.
Meditation (France, 2014) by Bioskieur’s Mickael Bimboes brings the eco-friendly skiing approach. It has convinced the jury with the idea and mission as well as the technical execution.
Valley Uprising is also the people’s choice poll winner.
